Funding to Strengthen Canada’s Agriculture and Ranching Sectors

The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) is a five-year, $3.5 billion investment (2023–2028) from the Government of Canada, provinces, and territories. It provides cost-share funding to help farmers and ranchers adopt new technology, improve sustainability, and build long-term resilience in their operations.

This includes modernization funding for on-farm equipment, from precision agriculture tools to machinery and maintenance equipment such as zero-turn mowers and cattle handling systems.

Who Qualifies

  • Farmers, ranchers, and agri-businesses operating in any Canadian province or territory.

  • Individuals, corporations, co-operatives, and producer organizations may apply.

  • Applicants must be actively engaged in farming or ranching and meet the eligibility rules of their provincial or territorial agriculture ministry.

What It Covers

Each province and territory delivers SCAP funding through its own programs, but most include support for:

  • Technology and innovation adoption – automation, precision ag, livestock monitoring, machinery upgrades, and maintenance equipment.

  • Infrastructure and efficiency upgrades – barns, water systems, and handling facilities.

  • Sustainability and environmental improvements – manure management, soil health, feed efficiency.

  • Risk management and business development – diversification, market access, training, and farm safety.
