What is the Advance Payments Program (APP)?

The Advance Payments Program (APP) helps Canadian farmers and ranchers manage cash flow through interest-free advances on the value of their products, including cattle, bison, and other livestock. This program gives you working capital when you need it most, helping bridge the gap between production and payment.

Program Details

• Maximum Advance - Up to $1,000,000 per year

• Interest-Free Portion - First $250,000 interest-free

• Eligible Products - Cattle, bison, crops, grains, oilseeds, etc.

• Repayment - As product is sold (up to 18-24 months depending on commodity)

Who Qualifies

• Canadian livestock or crop producers (individuals, corporations, or co-ops).

• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and actively engaged in farming.

• Eligible products include cattle, bison, hogs, sheep, goats, and crops.

• Producers must have a valid Business Number (BN) and be in good standing with the APP administrator.

What It Covers

• Cash advances on agricultural commodities you produce and plan to sell.

• The first $250,000 of each producer’s advance is interest-free.

• You can borrow up to $1,000,000 per program year.

• Advances can be used for feed, equipment payments, input costs, or operating expenses.
