Expansion Support for Established Missouri Beef Operations

The Missouri Beef Producer Grant provides partial funding (up to 75%) to help established beef producers in Missouri expand or upgrade their operation. Unlike some federal grants that only fund training or education, this program can help pay for facilities, equipment, and herd growth directly tied to increased beef production.

This is a competitive program administered through the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA).

Who Qualifies / Eligible Applicants

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years old.

  • Missouri residents only.

  • Open to:

    • Commercial beef herds, and

    • Purebred beef herds with fewer than 50 mature cows.

  • Project must be directly related to increasing production in the beef herd.

What It Can Cover

Eligible projects may include:

  • Expansion of existing beef facilities

  • Construction of a new facility

  • Equipment purchases tied to beef production

  • Breeding and reproductive technologies

  • Herd expansion

The program will fund up to 75% of eligible project costs. A minimum 25% cash match from the applicant is required.

Maximum grant amount: $40,000.

What It Does Not Cover

This grant cannot be used for:

  • Operating costs (payroll, supplies, utilities, insurance, travel)

  • Paying off existing debt

  • Buying land

  • Marketing or advertising

  • Trucks, ATVs/UTVs, or tractors

  • Indirect/overhead expenses

  • Anything purchased before the grant is awarded

How the Program Works

  • Proposals are scored competitively on credibility, potential impact, and how quickly the project will deliver impact.

  • Strong, well-defined projects that clearly show increased beef production will score better.
